Abby Thornton Hailey

Pastor

Rev. Abby Thornton Hailey has served as pastor of Broadneck Baptist Church since June 2010. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Abby holds a Bachelors of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Divinity from Duke University. After being ordained at her home church in 2005, she served as an associate pastor at two congregations in Virginia before joining the Broadneck family on their journey.

In addition to her work at the church, she loves being outside in God’s creation,  pursuing work as a writer, travelling, and avidly following UVA and Duke sports. Most of all she enjoys spending time with her husband, Victor, who is an ordained Episcopal clergyperson, and their young son and daughter. She'd love to get coffee or tea with you and get to know you better!

Valerie Mills Cooper

Pianist

Our congregation is blessed to enjoy the creative musical gifts of Valerie Mills Cooper each week. Valerie is an accomplished musician who can be found not only at the keys of our piano, but playing and singing in numerous jazz, gospel, and rock groups throughout the area.

A graduate of Virginia State University and Bowie State University, Valerie is a retired public school band director and school administrator. She was hired to be Broadneck's interim pianist and nearly two decades later we still haven't let her go! An Annapolis native with deep roots in the area, Valerie stays busy directing plays and musicals through Pamoja Productions and carpooling her  four energetic grandsons around town.

Tracy Millward-Bourne has been faithfully and lovingly caring for our kids at Broadneck for over a decade. A resident of the Cape raising two teens of her own in the community, Tracy is trained in early childhood education and has worked as a public school and pre-school teacher.

Rosa Glover is an experienced mother of grown children and grandmother to three boys. Rosa has cared for our youngest ones since 2012, and has long been active working with children in churches as well as doing daycare in her home

We are grateful for the consistent, loving care these two amazing women give our little ones (birth-age 4) every week.
