Sabbatical Summer 2022

Rest. Renewal. Relationship.

Broadneck Baptist is thrilled to have received a generous grant to enable its Pastor Abby to participate in the National Clergy Renewal Program. Broadneck and St. Stephens Episcopal Church (the congregation of Pastor Abby's husband, Rev. Victor Hailey) are two of 156 congregations across the United States selected to participate in this competitive grant program, which is funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. and administered by Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. This grant will fund unique renewal opportunities for the Hailey family and both of their churches in the summer of 2022.

The theme of our renewal program is "Renewing Our Covenants." While the Hailey family explores the roots of their families and faiths in the United Kingdom, Broadneck will be preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary in September through a summer of reflecting on its commitments to God, one another, and the world around us.

Sabbatical Summer Preview!

We equally look forward to being led in worship by Chaplain Cherie Smith (June 12, 19 and 26); our former interim pastor Steve Hyde (July 17); our former Associate Pastor Chuck Sellner (August 7); and community activists and partners in ACT (Anne Arundel Connecting Together) William and Toni Strong-Pratt (August 28).

Beyond summer, the celebration continues with a welcome back dinner and time of sharing with the Haileys on September 10, a shared concert of English, Welsh and Scottish music inspired by the Haileys' journeys at St. Stephens on October 2, and Broadneck's 40th anniversary extravaganza the weekend of October 15-16!

Come be inspired and build new relationships through these worship experiences, chances to join together in fellowship with St. Stephens, and other opportunities to rest, renew, and reconnect with God and one another!
